Designer Light Fixtures on a Dime
I absolutely love light fixtures. I think they make a room and can become a focal point. Lately, when I’ve been out and about, I’m drawn to the lighting all around. Maybe my new found interest is a result of a DIY chandelier I’m working on for my daughter’s room. Whatever the reason, I am all about lighting. What I found from researching high-end light fixtures is that they are both gorgeous and extremely expensive! So, I set out to find designer light fixtures on a dime. Well, not literally a dime, but you know what I mean. You can create or buy these fixtures for a fraction of the designer prices.
Many of you have asked where I get my inspiration and unique pieces to tie a room together. Well, after reading this, you will know my favorite spots around town and I hope we bump into one another. If you see me, don’t be a stranger!
For all of you that follow my Facebook fan page, DIY Mom of Twins, you know The Painted Mill is my go to store! The Painted Mill is filled to the brim with unique pieces from vendors from all over the area. I guarantee you will be inspired and walk out of the store with a designer quality piece! One of my favorite things about this store, is the owner! Jenn is so sweet, down to earth and a mom of twins!
Blue Bird Salvage is a new shop that opened not far from The Painted Mill. It’s my new found favorite. I love what the store offers in product and service. I got to talking with the owner when I stopped by and we hit it off right away. She is like the friend you’ve had for years. She is an incredible woman with incredible taste. Her lantern light fixture is such a great idea! I love how she repurposed the lantern and then added a Fall wreath above it to tie the whole look together.
Belle Patri is located in Jarrettsville, MD. I stop in whenever I am in the area. The owner is constantly getting in new and unique product. Belle Patri expanded and now has a building called “The Cottage” which features high end furnishings that are used to stage multimillion dollar homes in the area.
This beautiful floral chandelier is found in “The Cottage”.
Farmhouse Salvage is the first stop on my list when I am looking for rustic or farmhouse pieces. I could spend all day in this store! It is located only seconds away from Belle Patri. Make a day of it and go to these two shops!
