Even before I became pregnant, I had a vision for my daughter’s nursery. When I found out I was expecting twins, a boy and girl, I had to figure out how to personalize their sides of the room. I came up with these adorable shabby chic letters to spell my daughter’s name.

SUPPLIES:
Letters (Michael’s $1.99 each)
Pink and Fuschia Paint (Michael’s $1.00 each)
Paint Brushes
Scrapbook Paper
Picture Frames (Goodwill and Flea Markets for $1.00 each)
Hot Glue Gun
Hot Glue

Start by painting letters a base color. Let dry 30 minutes and then lightly brush randomly over letters to create a weathered look.

While letters are drying, cut Scrapbooking paper to fit frame. Do not remove glass to not glue. Center letter, hot glue and press down lightly.

Keep letter and frame flat, setting aside for at least 30 minutes. Repeat with each letter. Once they are dry, hang and enjoy!

  1. What a cute, sweet idea! I have two little girls the same age (adopted but both six and three weeks apart in age) and they would just LOVE this for their room. Thanks for sharing this idea! Just going to have to steal it :)

    • I’m glad you loved it! I bet they will love it just as much! The twins share a room right now, so I was trying to find a way to have separate styles and spaces. The letters spelling out Julia’s name made the space her own. Check back for more DIY nursery/room projects. I just posted a DIY painted crib :)

      • I am all about DIY :) I will definitely be checking back!

  2. Found your blog via your husband’s FB post. LOVE LOVE LOVE this idea! My husband and I have a 2 year old daughter and we will be welcoming our son in a few short weeks. Since they will be sharing a room, I need all the help I can get to make it fun for both! I love this because you can choose the style and colors without leaning too much towards one gender. Thanks so much! I look forward to reading much more from you!

  3. My kids are older now, but I love this idea for gifts. I constantly scour Goodwill and thrift stores for fancy picture frames. I spray paint them all black and add items in the middle.
    Great work Alissa, beautiful blog!

  4. SUPER cute projects. Do you happen to be a scrapbooker too? :) I live in Hanover, PA and host a scrapbook crop from time to time. I read Matt’s post about moving to Maryland (I believe) and thought if you needed to get out with the ladies once in a blue moon, you might be interested.

Love your DIY and wish your blog success!
