Purée Baby Food with a Twist

HOMEMADE BANANA-APPLE PURÉE

BANANA-APPLE PURÉE

BANANA-APPLE PURÉE (4 Servings)

Ingredients:
2 Bananas, cut into chunks
1 Cup Homemade Applesauce (See Recipe for Applesauce)
1 Cup Plain Yogurt
2 TBSPs Honey (optional)
4 TBSPs Wheat Germ (Use as Topping)

1. Add all ingredients, except wheat germ, in blender or food processor. To purée in blender, blend 1-2 minutes. To purée in food processor, blend on purée setting until desired consistency. *Top purée with wheat germ and serve to older children.*

*Add honey if too tart for your taste buds. Do not feed honey to infants under one due to health concerns. Increase the amount of liquid to make a smoother purée. Add even more liquid to make the purée into a smoothie. *

ORANGE CREAM PURÉE (4 Servings)

Ingredients:
2 Nectarines or Peaches, skinned, pitted, and cut in quarters
2 Cups Plain Yogurt
1/2 Cup Orange Juice
4 TBSPs Oat Bran or Wheat Germ
1 Cup Crushed Ice or 1 Frozen Banana (Optional)
4 TBSPs Raspberries (Topping)

Add all ingredients, except raspberries, in blender or food processor. To purée in blender, blend 1-2 minutes. To purée in food processor, blend on purée setting until desired consistency. *Top purée with raspberries and serve to older children.*

*Add honey if too tart for your taste buds. Do not feed infants honey under the age of one due to health concerns. Increase the amount of liquid to make a smoother purée. Add even more liquid to make the purée into a smoothie. *

STRAWBERRY FRAPPE PURÉE (4 Servings)

Ingredients:
1 Cup Fresh Grapefruit or Orange Juice
1 Cup Strawberries, Hulled ( Remove Stem and Leaves)
3 TBSPs Honey (Optional)
1/2 Club Soda
1 Cup Crushed Ice

Add all ingredients in blender or food processor. To purée in blender, blend 1-2 minutes. To purée in food processor, blend on purée setting until desired consistency.

PAPAYA, MANGO, PINEAPPLE, BANANA PURÉE (4 Servings)

Ingredients:
2 Papayas, Peeled, Seeded, and Diced
1 Mango, Peeled, Seeded, and Diced
1 Cup Pineapple, Diced
2 Bananas, Peeled and Cut into Chunks
1/4 Cup Apple Juice
1 Lemon Juiced
1 Cup Blueberries (Topping)

Add all ingredients, except blueberries, in blender or food processor. To purée in blender, blend 1-2 minutes. To purée in food processor, blend on purée setting until desired consistency. * Top purée with blueberries and serve to older children.*

HOMEMADE APPLE SAUCE (Makes 6 Cups)

Ingredients:
8 Medium-Sized Macintosh Apples
3/4 Cup Brown or White Sugar
1 TSP Ground Cinnamon
1/4 Cup Water, Apple Juice, or Lemonade

1. Core and slice apples and place in large nonstick pot with remaining ingredients.
2. Cover and cook on low heat for 30-45 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes until sauce reaches desired consistency. Cook longer for a smoother sauce.
3. Remove Skins with a fork.
4. Serve Cool or Warm.

      • Thank you so much! One of my friend’s sons was just in PICU for 2 weeks with infant botulism severely ill. Side note: my twins are exactly 2 months younger than yours. Quite the journey, isn’t it? :)
